This week and last week, students have focused on Habit #4 - Think Win-Win. By thinking win-win, students learn that everyone has a role in the decision making process and that it is important to talk about a problem in order to create a Win-Win. Students watched a short video about a One Man Band and decided if the characters in the video thought win-win. This week, students read the story "The Rainbow Fish" and made a claim as to whether or not the Rainbow Fish thought Win-Win in the story. If your child has a problem to solve, see if they can solve it by thinking win-win!

First graders were introduced to Habit #3 Put First Things First with the Visible Thinking Routine Headlines. Students know that to Put First Things First means to work first and then play. Students learned that in first grade, we must work first and then play, otherwise we will use our play time to finish work that we haven't completed during work time. Today, Troy Union welcomed Jim Basketball Jones for a school-wide assembly. Jim talked about the importance of patient listening, putting first things first and beginning with the end in mind. He also reminded our Troy Union Eagles about why it is so important to use our manners. Thanks Jim Basketball Jones! |
