Over the last two weeks, first graders have been working on Habit #2, Begin with the End in Mind. We have learned that to Begin with the End in Mind means to set goals and to make a plan to reach those goals. Each class has already set a bellwork goal, reading goal, and homework goal. Each student has also set a behavior goal.
We all do things that make a difference in our classroom, so ask your child about their classroom job. By giving each person in the classroom a role, we are able to get everything done that needs to be done.
Each class has also created their own mission statement (see below). We used the Visible Thinking routine Generate Sort Connect to create our mission statements. Students thought about the following questions, which helped us create our mission statements.
What's our purpose for being here?
What do you want our class to be known for?
