In this unit of Social Studies, first graders learned about Needs and Wants. During our most recent lesson, students began discussing money and whether or not it is one of our basic needs. At the end of the lesson, we decided to pose the question to our families. What do you think? Do we NEED money to live or is money something that we WANT because it makes life easier? Please discuss this with your child. Your family decision (Need or Want) is less important that the conversation that you have at home. Ask your child what they think and ask them to explain why by asking the question, "What makes you say that?" Feel free to challenge their thinking by providing some of your own ideas. I'm looking forward to hearing all about your discussions!
